About

In 2009, Geoff Eckart got a muddy idea: create a world-class, extreme 5K mud run to raise money for a worthy cause.  On August 28, 2010, the first Grand Rapids Mud Run was born right here in GR!  Participation is expected to reach 3,500+ participants and spectators in 2022.  It attracts mud-lovers from all over, and includes mud pits, a 60 foot mud slide, tunnel crawls, walls, slippery hill climbs, and much more. Each year since the race began in 2010, runners have had the opportunity to give back in a strange but awesome way, through donating their messy and muddy shoes!  After conquering the course, runners can donate their shoes at the shower station by tying the pair together and putting them in the donate bin.  A huge thanks to Model Coverall and the Salvation Army Stores of Grand Rapids for cleaning the shoes and getting them back into our community to help those in need!

Indianapolis

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT OUR MUD? Eat Dirt Indy, one of the funnest 5K’s in Indianapolis challenges participants to get muddy and have the time of their life. The obstacle-course event will bring an estimated 5,000 mud crazed, adventure runners testing their endurance and strength. Participants can run as an individual or make a team with friends to take on obstacle filled, mud pitted 5K. There is also a Kids Mini Mud Run for kids’ ages 6 to 12. Eat Dirt Indy, a fundraiser for Shunem Ministries, provides runners with a unique experience. The run promotes fitness by challenging participants to face their fears and realize their true strength. The muddy, obstacle-filled, mud pitted race is unlike others in Indianapolis. The unique obstacles, kids mud run and more, make this a family friendly event. WHO BENEFITS? Proceeds go to Shunem House here in Indy. Shunem provides care and retreat through training & counseling for families on temporary furlow in the US that live abroad and serve throughout the world to people in need. Never the Same, a peer-to-peer youth ministry that focuses on promoting leadership in young people around the country through camps and on campuses (neverthesame.org), will also receive a percentage.
